The Vegan Beer Fest is back and it’s returning to Glasgow!
Fat Gay Vegan has teamed up with the marvellous Mono and brilliant beer producer William Bros.Brewing Co. to host the Glasgow Beer Fest on Sunday the 5th of August – it’s a bank holiday weekend so you don’t have to worry about being hungover at work should you have one too many.
Now, who better to give us the gossip than the very man who created the event…
What inspired you to create Vegan Beer Fest?
Vegan Beer Fest is my way of showing vegans and non-vegans that a vegan event can be fun, too. It is a way for vegans to feel celebrated in their choice to live a more compassionate life and it will hopefully help non-vegans in understanding that choosing vegan doesn’t mean sacrifice.
For the Vegan Beer Fest Virgins, what can people expect from the event?
If you love beer, you will be in your element. William Bros and Mono team up to curate an incredible line up of vegan beers plus there is always a selection of wines, cocktails, and soft drinks. There will be a solid selection of food including the now famous Mono BBQ. One of the most popular aspects of Vegan Beer Fest UK is the karaoke, so of course we will be making a big deal of that once again.
From a small London event to amazing events held UK wide, Any more cities you’ve got in mind for 2019?
We have hosted events in Manchester in previous years but sadly our venue of choice was no longer available. Hopefully we can get back there in 2019 and possibly another new city or two but at the moment it is all under wraps!
Have you tried the famous Glasgow pizza crunch from Mono yet? It’s a half pizza deep fried in batter, disgustingly dirty but oh so tasty!
Yes, I’ve tried the pizza crunch. I pride myself on my ability to eat a lot but I’m sorry to say I was defeated by that particular piece of Glasgow cuisine. Eating can be a brutal experience in Scotland but I love and respect you all for it.
Fave hangover munch?
I am a real potato fanatic and will eat it most ways, but a definite favourite to help me recover is a plate of mash smothered in gravy. Irn Bru to wash it down, of course.
So there you have it, great beer and great food with no work the next day – what are you waiting for? Book your ticket now and I’ll see you there! On the day you will receive a collectible pint cup to use and take home but you can also purchase some sweet merch online right now.
Don’t worry if you aren’t Glasgow based as there is also the first ever Coventry Vegan Beer Fest coming up on 28th of July and the Sheffield event on August 18th. The London event took place over the weekend and it looked amazing, I’ll definitely be putting it in my diary for next year!
If you don’t already, then make sure you follow Fat Gay Vegan for Beer Fest updates as well as lots more vegan events and food porn. Sean also keeps himself busy running Hackney Downs Vegan Market in London which showcases the very best vegan food so pop it on your to do list.
