Shop Local: Glasgow Gift Guide

Glasgow is not only amazing for a good munch but it is also full of marvellous makers too. Why not take advantage this Christmas? Not only will you avoid buying the same old stuff but you will also be supporting a small business who will treasure your pennies so much more…

I’ve rounded up the brands I’ll be buying from this year and hope to find under my tree…

A Pony Called Steve – I am actually obsessed with their candles, they smell amazing and their packaging is gorgeous. They have just released great value gift sets so I will doing a separate post later to tell you all about these too.

NAF Stuff – Their cruelty free cuticle oils and sassy pins make the perfect stocking filler.

Dear Green Claes – Tops and totes spreading the vegan vibes with Glasgow banter.

1111EARTH – Hand painted one of a kind jackets designed to spread positive vibes and guaranteed to stand out! Leah, the artist, also published her first book this year – How to be a fucking unicorn! It is equally funny and inspirational to encourage people to be their true self, I honestly wish I had read this in my early twenties.

Yogi Oils – Beautifully blended oil blends, smell great on and off the yoga mat.

Beauty Kitchen – Sustainable skincare and beauty products made from 100% natural ingredients.

Twa Burds Soap – Homemade bath & body products for the whole family from beard oils to fun stocking fillers for the little ones.

Dear Green Coffee – Ethically sourced and sustainable coffee, gifts and classes that will delight any coffee lover. They have also released a special Christmas collaboration gift set with fellow female coffee roasters, Glen Lyon and Steampunk. 10% of sales from this collaboration set will be donated to the Women’s Fund for Scotland.

In Bloom – Their Christmas food hamper is what vegan foodies dreams are made of! Not available just yet but follow them on Instagram for updates. A box of her festive doughnuts would make a great gift too.

Rawnchy Cakes– Traditional treats made healthy that look as good as taste! You can drop in to pick up treats from new festive menu to takeaway (more on them on my eating out guide) or you can order a whole cake which can be personalised too.

Mud Flowers – Who doesn’t want a lovely bunch of flowers? And if you really want to spoil them then Mud do subscriptions…

Toasty Type – This talented calligrapher can personalise Christmas baubles and cards for that special someone one. You can also book calligraphy workshops to learn how to diy or as an unusual gift for a crafty mate. I took a class earlier this year and absolutely loved it, my cards and gift tags will certainly be a bit extra thanks to this babe.

Claire Barclay Draws – This Glasgow illustrator creates super fun cards, art prints and jewellery. If you are after something completely unique you can also get a custom made portrait in her cute hand drawn style, she can do individuals, couples or even your furry friends.

Wild & KindA female focused community interest company selling t-shirts, totes and cards designed by local artists.

Tempo Tea – This bubble tea bar has stores in both Glasgow, Edinburgh and online. When it comes to gifts you can buy loose leaf tea, their tea infuser flask, reusable bottles and bursting popping juice balls. The popping juice balls work great in fizz and cocktails for adding a pop of colour.

The Vegan Kind – Yes this company has grown to be massive but did you know it began life as a side hustle/passion project for a fellow Glasgow girl? You can choose between a lifestyle or beauty box, both available as one off purchase or as subscription. They also now run an online vegan supermarket too! With so much choice, it seems only sensible to dedicate a separate post to these guys so stay tuned.

This list of recommendations is really just the tip of the iceberg of the amazing makers and entrepreneurs ready to play Christmas elves, so check out local Christmas markets like Super Market and The Vegan Connections Christmas market.
