Looking for some merry menus when out and about?
I have rounded up some local restaurants and a few of my fave chains that will give you the festive feels.
I was recently wandering the Christmas markets where everyone seemed to be tucking into bratwursts which of course put me in the mood! Thankfully Doner Haus does a delicious currywurst amongst other vegan options so I didn’t have to go without. They also do two cocktails for a tenner, merry Christmas indeed!
If you are taking in the markets at George Square then pop into Browns for seasonal cocktails. I recently had a mate date at Browns and tucked into the lentil and beetroot shepherds pie from their new vegan menu, perfect dish to warm you up.
Newly opened Jacques in Finnieston don’t offer a festive or set menu as such. However, they do have lots of fairy lights and a choice of vegan cheese or chocolate fondue as well as lots of gin cocktails so you can eat, drink and feel merry. Check out my post from their launch party by clicking here.
The Gusto Christmas menu has a vegan option available for every course and they are also doing Christmas cocktails throughout December too.
Hillhead Bookclub have created a full vegan Christmas menu consisting of 3 starters, mains and desserts so plenty of choice! Mr.Johnson and I tried 6 out of the 9 dishes on offer and all were delicious. The chocolate and coconut tart served with raspberry sorbet and frosted raspberries was absolute heaven.
Tomillo always create the most delicious tasting menus and this months menu is no exception! You will receive a welcome glass of prosecco, 4 courses, a specialty hot drink and petit fours to finish. If you are looking for something special then this is it, their menus always showcase how versatile vegan food can be and their plates are a work of art. They can even take the stress out of cooking on the big day as you can collect a 3-course Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, ready for you heat up on Christmas Day!
Chef owned Red Onion is one of my go to restaurants for a proper sit down meal with a sense of occasion. If you have the task of making a group booking with a mix of dietary requirements then this is the place for you as they offer vegan, gluten free, dairy free, gluten dairy free, gluten free vegan, a la carte, pre theatre and lunch menus!
Zizzis have several Christmas set menus on offer starting from just £19.95 for 3 courses! Lots of vegan options available but I really enjoyed the Zucca pizza; tomato, mozzarisella (made with coconut oil), roasted butternut squash & caramalised red onion.
Dockyard is going to be transformed into a winter wonderland for December! They are also offering packages that are ideal for a work night out with a difference or for those not wanting a traditional sit down meal. The package gets you a private area, welcome drink and 3 food tokens so you can tuck into the best street food Scotland has to offer. As well as great choice of food, they have multiple bars including a prosecco bar and gin garden. Oh and rumour is Santa will be making an appearance!
I happen to know that the babe behind Rawnchy cakes loves Christmas as much as I do and she’s baked the goods to prove it! Think traditional treats with a healthy twist; gingerbread men, mince pies, Christmas pudding bites to name just a few. A box of Rawnchy goodies would make a great gift too.
