Things I enjoy; Pizza, Pasta, Beer and Cocktails.
Nick’s Neighbourhood Bar and Diner in Hyndland invited me along to enjoy all of the above to celebrate their new look.
Their new look was apparent as soon as we walked up with gorgeous fairy lit flower walls framing the door and their colourful new signage.
Once inside, I grabbed a glass of fizz then took a seat under their neon sign – looked great but meant every picture I took has an interesting pink tinge, ooops.
I was excited to be told that they would be offering vegan mozzarella and a separate full vegan/gluten free menu, what made this even more exciting is that they are looking to roll this out to all their venues.
Now when they said full menu, they should have said jam packed! They offer multiple options of starters, pastas, pizzas, grills and desserts! It was very clear vegan options were not just a second thought.
They offer six starters including crispy cauliflower bites, Daring meatbaws and loaded nachos. I tried the crispy cauliflower, big chunks of cauliflower in a crispy batter. As I write this I want more!
Their pizzas come in 10″ or 14″ with lots of combinations, DIY toppings or you can order half a 10″ with a Rustica salad if you want to order a bit lighter. When my pizza arrived I could see why they are calling themselves home of the mega crust, it was super thick! This delicious thick crust was perfect for dunking in sriracha mayo. The vegan mozzarella had melted beautifully and is actually one of the most convincing cheese alternatives I’ve tasted.
The grill section has a couple of burgers, fajitas but the option that jumped out at me was vegan halloumi kebab!
Obviously there is a token salad on the menu but when eating out a salad is rarely of interest to me.
Finally there are two desserts; orange sorbet with seasonal fruits or chocolate pizzetta, chocolate pizza! Dough topped with dark chocolate sauce, crumbled hazelnuts and fresh strawberries – now that’s how you finish a meal.
If you fancy an afternoon treat then take advantage of their lunch deal, 10″ pizza and a soft drink for £6.
They don’t do home delivery but they do offer takeaway, they’ll even treat you to a free drink while you wait if you spend £25 or more. A drink and good tunes are guaranteed to make waiting less of a chore.
I had already arranged another visit before we had even left so zero doubt I’ll be back!
