Review: Cruelty Free Beauty Box

If you followed my blog during Blogmas you will already know I love the subscription box concept, what’s not to love about goodies getting delivered every month?!

I was treated to the February Cruelty Free Beauty Box so I wanted to tell you about the brand and share what was in my box of course! Yes this box was kindly gifted but as always any thoughts and grammar issues are all my own.

As the name suggests, The Cruelty Free Beauty Box creates cruelty free and vegan beauty boxes. You can sign up for a subscription, buy a one-off box or even create your own box and if you really love a product they also have an online shop. They are also eco friendly as they use recycled and recyclable packaging along with biodegradable mailing bags.

So what did I discover in the February Love and Nourish themed box…

XOXO Perfume Oil by Medusas Make UP

Firstly, does XOXO instantly make anyone else think of Gossip Girl? Moving on… I love that this perfume came in its own little velvety pouch and I found applying perfume with a rollerball quite relaxing too.

Orange and grapefruit soap by Friendly Soap

Wow this will definitely wake you up! It doesn’t only smell zesty, the soap is also packed with vitamin C and other antioxidants to help boost your immune system so perfect to fight the sniffles. I always worry that a bar of soap would dry my skin out but this one contained coconut and olive oil as well as shea butter to moisturise as it cleans.

Coconut Eyeshadow by Phase Zero Make Up

I really like a metallic eye for a night out so I was really excited to find this in my box. This product is made with coconut water so you can blend when wet then it dries to make it smudge proof. It looks pretty odd at first as the ingredients separate but give it a good shake and you are good to go!

Green Tea Balm by Pure Purpose

I have a nasty habit of judging products on their packaging so to be honest I would have probably never picked up this understated wee pot in a shop but I absolutely love it now! I couldn’t help but be impressed as it had so many uses that make it a great handbag or holiday saviour. It can be used as a cleanser, make up remover, moisturiser, lip balm, cuticle balm or as a breakout treatment! Now that really is multipurpose. It has a really uplifting scent and it really sinks into your skin, I’ll definitely be repurchasing this again and again.

Purifying Body Lotion by Urban Veda

I have to be honest I really didn’t enjoy the smell of this lotion, to me it smelt more like a foot cream than a body lotion. However, different strokes for different folks as my friend liked it so it found a new home.

Only one out of the five products featured wasn’t full size so really easy to work out the true value of the box, a one-off box is £19.95 or you can subscribe for £14.95 and the green tea balm in this box has an RRP of £20.

The downside is you may not absolutely love every product but I still think a subscription box is great way to discover new brands. If you prefer to take control then they also have build your own box where you can select 5 products for £19.95 plus shipping, great for creating the perfect gift.

If you fancy a full on shopping spree then there is plenty to choose from on their online shop including a plastic free section!

You can take advantage of 10% off a box by using GEM10 so go on treat yourself!

If you have already tried Cruelty Free Beauty Box or any of the products featured then let me know what you thought in the comments.

Big Loves,
