Steak, Cattle and Roll is an independently Glasgow owned business dishing up American inspired food that is sourced from local suppliers – hence their new mantra “Glasgow Bred, American Fed”.
Don’t be put off by the name as they actually offer so many great vegan options that it is a real struggle deciding what to order!
There are 3 burgers as well as a wrap and a token salad – I love a salad but can never imagine choosing one over a dirty treat when eating in a place like this to be honest. I opted for the chicken burger but rather than a traditional “burger” the bun comes stuffed with southern fried chicken tenders, super tasty but should come with a bib!
The mains don’t come with fries but you can order them as a side with a choice of chunky, skinny or sweet.
They also offer two vegan loaded chips options which are definitely more of a main than a side even for a greedy girl like me.
The “Louisana Style” chips come loaded with sautéed onions, bacon crumbs (yes bacon crumbs are vegan!), garlic mayo and hot sauce.
The “L.A Style” are garlic chips loaded with vegan chicken tenders, bacon, maple syrup drizzle, sriracha sauce and spring onions.
The decisions only get harder when you check out the drinks menu as not only do they have all the usual suspects but their milk and freakshakes can be ordered vegan too, if you are feeling a bit extra you can order them “fancy” or “boozy”. I couldn’t resist the “Kraken Up” shake; Kraken Rum, vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, espresso topped with whipped cream and Biscoff. Best. Milkshake. Ever.
I would definitely recommend giving SCR a visit unless you are on a first date as it can be a messy, dirty business…
In meantime, you can follow SCR on Instagram for food porn aplenty!
You can also find lots more food on my Instagram so make sure to give me a follow.
p.s This meal was gifted but all opinions and bad grammar is completely my own, pinky promise!
